Meet Aston
Breed: Shih Tzu
Age: 8 yrs.
Weight: 19 lbs.
Good with dogs: low energy
Good with cats: unsure
Good with kids: older kids ok
Energy level: low
Good with men/strangers: no
Hypoallergenic: yes
Special home requirements or medical: Impaired vision, special diet, calm environment with a yard, older kids ok,
Additional info:
Aston is a sweet soul that is learning to interact with more people and is learning to open up a lot faster. Although he is pretty independent he has a very cuddly side. There are moments when Aston prefers to be left alone and will snooze in his crate for a few hours, but when he does want cuddles he lets out a little cry that will just melt your heart. Once he trusts you he will even jump up at you for a little snuggle time.
When he is in grumpy mood he will give clear signs that he wants to be left alone, he'll walk farther back into his crate or give a little grunt. The crate is Astons safe space so he should never be forced out if he is not feeling up to it, so it's all on his terms. We think Aston would be fine in a home with older kids 14 years and up that can understand his cues and allow him to do his own thing when he wants to. We also believe that he will be fine with cats as long as they aren't interested in him.
Aston is a home body and is not the type of dog that will be ok with going on outings or a very busy household. He needs a home that will allow him to be himself and not show too much affection when he is not asking for it. He's perfect for someone that works from home that is looking for a companion that is not too high maintenance.
Aston has been with us for far too long and it's time someone give him a family/person of his own.
