Meet Arthur Christmas, the Death Row big-mush "baby" who wants to dance with you!

Why adopt Arthur Christmas, whose time at the kill shelter is running out (he's been there for so many months)? I'll list some Very Good Reasons below and, if you're then thinking (I know you will be, so excited!) he's the One for you, you can reach out directly to the person in Georgia who's trying so hard to save his life (text Claire at (516) 652-9711). I don't know him personally (I'm up north), but I'm so excited about pitbull rescue and you'll be passionate about it too when you read about this mumfordy dog! Thanks!

Why adopt Arthur Christmas, why save him? Maybe you are looking for a best friend for life, one who doesn't change just because circumstances change (or for no reason at all). Maybe you've felt misunderstood yourself, and feel a connection with a whole breed of dogs that is misunderstood. Maybe this line from a YouTube video (The Dodo channel) resonates with you:"They don't care who you are. They're just grateful to be with you." Maybe, like Arthur Christmas (and many other pitbulls), you've been a "people-pleaser" and been rejected. Maybe you resonate with THIS video title (from YouTube): This Woman Couldn't Sleep - Until She Rescued a Pitbull because you've been wanting to rescue a dog about to be killed just for having been born a certain breed (what would be called racism, if dogs were people), Maybe you want a big baby to baby, or a protector for your human child (pits were actually "employed" as nannies early in the 20th century because they are so devoted to their people and have a natural instinct to protect children). Maybe you just want to live with someone who's so happy to see you when you come in, he gets zoomies all over the place and makes you laugh to be so loved!

Arthur Christmas was found as a stray, covered in (his own!) blood and with a broken leg. He still has a limp from its not healing completely, but he could live a fully normal life, if given the chance! He loves belly rubs and being
petted all over his face, and if you let him he'll jump up on your chest. Having been in the cage without lovin' for so many, many months, he'll be excited just to be approached and talked to by you - dogs are not naturally solitary beings!

Whether you want to go for a long walk or hike, or just lounge around vegging out or having a long night's sleep, or put on some music and slow-dance (or silly-dance) with your doggie partner, Arthur Christmas wants to be there with you doing it too. It is thought that he may have been used to be a fighting dog and that he was abandoned for not being mean enough, but if he lives with other dogs in the home it would be best if they all understood Mumford to be the dominant one, but otherwise he gets along well with them. Do please help Arthur Christmas if you can - the people who know him there have put out an urgent plea to save loving Arthur's life!

Thank you! Before I explain how you could move ahead, here's more about pitbulls: They are used in search and rescue missions, due to their trainability, dedication, and intelligence. If you're a sports fan or athlete (or want a partner & motivation to become one, you may be interested to know that they excel at sports (well, canine ones) such as agility, weight-pulling, and diving. They're excellent jumpers and runners. If you're not feeling the excitement about Arthur Christmas yet, take a look at some YouTube videos like "How Adopting a Pitbull Changed Everything", "5 Things You Know if Your Dog is a Pitbull" "What Hapens When You Adopt a Pitbull", "Guy didn't want a pitbull", "I adopted a pitbull no-one else wanted. Here's how that went", "10 Surprising Facts about Pitbulls that Will Make You Love Them", and there are so many more!

If interested in Arthur Christmas, please contact the person at the kill shelter who is trying to save him and you can ask what you wish to know about this young, optimistic pooch who believes he's got his whole life before him, and about how you could meet him! Her name is Claire at cell number (516) 652-9711. (She has a day-job so may not get back to you until after her work hours for the day, but after that or on weekends she can answer questions you have about him.) This doggie (Claire calls him Dan, btw) is at the Tift County kill shelter in Georgia, but if you live too far away to meet him in person and don't mind adopting him from afar, you can use the transport service Save Them All (contact: Bill at (706) 944-5650), and they can bring him to your door wherever you live in the continental states (for a $150 fee), and return him to Claire if it doesn't work out - Claire WILL take him back, so it's not a big risk for you to try him. Remember that Arthur Christmas is sadly only one of the dozens and dozens of healthy dogs there (and older, unhealthier ones) facing extinction, so if he turns out not to sound like The One for you, you could ask Claire to tell you about others (other breeds and other pitbulls). If you are unsure about committing to adoption, or know you can't adopt but would like to save his life, please consider fostering. With your help (you could give me a fuller description of what he's like in a real home), I'd continue to look for a permanent home for him. Thank you so much!
