Artemis Hound Mix Winnebago, IL

This baby needs a Savior. She isn't even a year old, but has hip dysplasia. She has seen one orthopedic specialist, but we are planning to get a second opinion to see if surgery might help (the previous vet said that her back end is not strong enough and she would likely not be a good candidate). She is currently on medication and in swim therapy (which would be beneficial for her to continue throughout her life). We have been told that she is a hound mix puppy, born near the end of August, but we don't know what kind of hound or what else is in her genetic makeup.
We do know that she is very sweet, housebroken, up to date on her shots, knows how to sit, and lay when asked. She takes treats nicely and is learning how to walk on a leash and stay when asked. Artemis is shy when first meeting people (she tucks her tail and cowers), but when she warms up, her cute, spicy personality comes out and she is a loving, playful pup (she occasionally gets too excited and ends up giving you small loves bites). She enjoys playing with other dogs and doesn't mind getting dirty. She also loves cloth squeaky toys and playing outside. She gets a little over zealous when she sees the cats, but does not try to hurt them.
