Aries English Cocker Spaniel Roy, UT

Aries has been on quite a journey. Originally rescued from a kill shelter in California, he was brought to Utah and adopted by a family. Unfortunately, he went missing twice. The first time, he was found patiently waiting on their doorstep. The second time, he ended up at a local shelter, but his family never came to reclaim him. That’s when we stepped in to give him the second chance he deserves.

Aries is estimated to be between 6 and 8 years old. He recently had much-needed dental to relieve pain from neglected teeth and is now feeling much better. He is fully potty trained, has never had an accident indoors, and is familiar with using a dog door. He also knows a few basic commands.

With all the transitions he has endured, Aries has developed some separation anxiety. He thrives when surrounded by his people and struggles with being left alone. To help him adjust, we are starting him on anxiety medication. He can be quite vocal when meeting new people but settles down with positive reinforcement and treats.

Aries is fantastic with other dogs of all sizes and has done well with the dogs in his foster home. He has also met a cat and showed little interest, though the cat was very dog-savvy, so introductions with new cats should be handled carefully.

Since we haven’t seen him interact with children, we recommend a home with respectful kids aged 15 and older.

As a Cocker Spaniel, Aries has a natural drive for activity (as this breed was bred to hunt) and needs both mental and physical stimulation to keep him happy.

His adoption fee is $200. He will be microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and has tested negative for heartworm. A recent comprehensive blood exam confirmed he is in great health.
