Arch, ArrrCheese, Sir Arthur are just a few of Archie’s names in his foster home. He is believed to be a 3-year old Hound, possibly Treeing Walker Coonhound/Fox Hound mix. Archie LOVES everyone and every dog he meets! Even the dogs that don’t love Archie, he still LOVES them and will wait for them to realize that they too love him. He is interested in cats, but has not chased them, unless the other dogs in the home do so first.

Archie is the kind of dog that does not like to be alone, so he NEEDS another dog or someone who is home a lot. Left alone, without a dog or person, Archie will cry and howl, or bark. And the noises that a Hound makes are LOUD and carry for far distances. In a previous foster home, he was destructive in a crate and in the home when left alone, but in his current foster home, with other dogs, he does just fine!

Archie is not aware that he is a Hound and generally prefers to be inside on a soft, fluffy bed, rather than outside. He enjoys walks and will occasionally act like a Hound sniffing the air to catch a scent, but unless you’re taking him for a walk, he does not understand why you would want him to be outside at all.

Archie also loves car rides…so much so that sometimes he does not want to come out of the car! Usually, though, if he has another dog with him, he will follow whatever that dog does!

Speaking of things that Archie loves…nap time! Archie prefers to sleep most of the day away. He will get up and play or go for walks, but when his Foster Mom can’t find him, he’s usually curled somewhere just snoozing away. He definitely has spurts of energy where he will romp and play with the other dogs, and boy is he loud about it! He barks and howls with the best of them, and if they get him running, he’s fast as lightning too!

Archie has amazing manners - doesn’t counter surf (unless someone else is doing it), doesn’t steal food from your plate, and knows some basic obedience cues. He becomes a bull in a "china shop," when its time for walks, so he needs some work there, but who doesn’t love walk time!!!

Archie is in line to join the HOPE Dog Program, but we would love for him to find his forever family first! He’s completely ready to take over your heart and your bed and your couch and any other soft, comfortable spot in your home!

Archie is a neutered male Hound, 3 yrs, 56 lbs. Archie loves everybody!!! He is great with other dogs and becomes instant buddies with every with whom he shares a kennel. Archie is fine with handling and he knows sit. Archie is interested in cats but in a friendly way. Nonetheless, we never recommend Hounds live with cats.

Adoption application, home visit and adoption fee required. If you would like to apply for adoption, please complete the online application at www.furryfriendsnetwork.com. Look under ADOPT tab. Contact generalinfo@furryfriendsnetwork.com for questions or if issues are encountered with the adoption application or general adoption process.

Foster Homes are desperately needed in order to help more animals like this one. Please consider opening your heart and home to a homeless animal. To find out more about becoming a Foster Parent, see our website at www.furryfriendsnetwork.com. Look under VOLUNTEER tab.

As part of our adoption agreement, we require that you and your adopted canine attend a minimum of one group basic obedience course within 4 months of adoption. If adopting a puppy under 4 months old, we also require a group puppy socialization course be started immediately upon adoption.

In addition, we require that puppies under 6 months of age will not be alone for more than 4 hours at a time in an 8 hour workday. We highly encourage working families to consider older puppies and adult dogs, but if your heart is set on a puppy, please consider doggie daycare.
