Foster Notes:
Arbutus is a gentle-mannered husky mix puppy that has all the right personality traits to become a great family dog. He’s kind when interacting with all ages of children, good with all dogs, and is becoming better acquainted with his foster’s cats in the home through slow introductions. He walks confidently on the leash and enjoys going outside for several walks a day around the neighbourhood. He has short spurts of wanting to run but is primarily laidback and prefers a more relaxing walk. He loves to snuggle on the couch with his toys quietly in the evening and follow his people around the house during the day. He has shown some signs of separation anxiety when his people leave the house but we are working on building confidence each day as well as establishing the rest of basic commands. He does have puppy brain which makes it hard at this stage to keep his attention during training time however that should improve as he ages. Arbutus is house-trained provided he has access every few hours to go outside on a consistent routine and we are now making it 6-7 hours through the night. His ideal home would be a family that enjoys going on frequent relaxed walks and has a safe and happy puppy-proof home to grow up in. Like all puppies he does occasionally get a little mouthy as he attempts to play with hands, however this is easily redirected with toys or bones. He does need his space when sleeping when he is super tired and will growl softly if bothered around midnight. He is overall a very good natured dog that is well on his way with his training. He loves bones and squeaky toys.
History:
Arbutus is a happy, friendly puppy who was found as a stray in northern Manitoba. He is making his way to Ontario to find her perfect forever family
