Annie is an incredibly sweet girl who loves to give kisses and enjoys belly rubs, head scratches, treats, and chew bones. She’s very curious about cats but is also easily correctable. When she gets excited, she tends to jump and has been known to put her front paws on people, so I wouldn’t recommend her for an older person who might be knocked over by her enthusiasm.

She does great with the older kids in her foster home (ages 13, 15, and 17), but in her excitement, she could potentially knock over smaller children. While I think she’d love and thrive in a home with younger or smaller kids, her playful energy might be too much for them at times. At just 2 years old, Annie has plenty of energy to burn! She loves playing with the Labrador in her foster home and would likely do best in a home with another dog to play with, though she could also be content as an only dog if her owner has the time and energy for playtime, walks, and space for zoomies in the yard.

Annie is a bit of a counter surfer, so if there’s food on counters or tables, she’ll happily put her front paws up to investigate. Be sure to guard your food carefully! She does well on wood floors and learned to navigate stairs quickly. One of her favorite things is stuffed animals, but she’s also a shoe thief. She carefully picks them up with her teeth and carries them back to her kennel, where she guards them like a treasure.

Speaking of guarding, Annie is possessive of her food. She growls and barks at other dogs who get too close to her bowl, so she needs to be fed in her kennel with the door shut and locked. However, she does not exhibit any aggression toward people near her food.

Overall, Annie is a joyful, loving, and playful dog who will make a wonderful companion for the right home. With the proper training, structure, and plenty of attention, she’ll thrive and be a truly special addition to any family.

This dog is being fostered in the Des Moines Area. We do not ship dogs. Adopters must be committed to meeting the dog in the area it is being fostered.

The adoption fee for HGA is $300.00. This fee pays for medical costs including spay/neuter surgery, shots, parasite treatments, teeth cleaning, microchip and microchip registration fee. Each dog also comes with a special sighthound collar and leash set and muzzle. There is a $30 non-refundable application fee.
