Meet Andie Floof
Always the first to come running when we go in search of puppy playtime, Andie LOVES people and finds them fascinating, and also she loves to snuggle! She's a busy, playful girl who is usually in the middle of whatever game the Floofs have going. And she is one smart puppy, who will be a delight to train!
HISTORY
Mama dog Tahlili is an Anatolian Shepherd who had a job overseeing a small flock of goats. When her owner got rid of the goats, she had to leave too. She was heavily pregnant when he started looking on Facebook for someone to take her, and her babies were just two days old when he released them to HART. They have been together in a loving foster home ever since.
Tahlili appears to be purebred. The breed of the pups' fathers can be no more than our best guess, taking into account their size and appearance.
This little family is located in Kennewick, Eastern Washington. We post our dogs in a variety of locations in an effort to expose them to a wide pool of adopters, in an effort to find them the best available homes. These babies are well worth a road trip!
Â
SOCIALIZATION, TEMPERAMENT & BEHAVIOR
Mama Tahlili is an exceptionally calm, gentle dog, a wonderful mother who has faithfully watched over her babies and has kept them well fed and clean from the beginning. Andie has inherited her gentle temperament.
The Floofs have been gently handled several times a day since their first days in their foster home. They are now all confident, friendly, trusting, and very playful. They love meeting new people and eagerly make friends! They are respectful of other dogs, and would like to be friends with them too. They are young enough to learn to live safely with a cat or any other animals - we don't expect them to develop high prey drive.
They spend nights indoors, but are outside with a big yard to play in all day. They love toys, wrestling, exploring, and playing tag.
It's important to remember: the Floofs are puppies, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! These little guys are just getting started - they have sharp nails and needle teeth, and they love to pounce on shoes and grab hold and tug on anything that moves! As far as they're concerned, anything and everything is for play. They still have everything to learn about being civilized members of a mainly-human family. They will trip you up, piddle on your carpet, and chew your stuff. Please don't apply to adopt a Floof unless you're sure you have the time, energy and desire to raise them right!
TRAINING
Potty training is a work in progress. The Floofs have been raised with access to a litter box, which they use when they need to potty while indoors. Given the option, however, they generally choose to go outside when they need to potty.
They have learned to sit in order to get treats, and they're pretty good at waiting their turn and taking treats gently. Next, their foster mama will be introducing them to the leash.
Andie is very good at coming when the puppies are called - she knows she'll be rewarded with a cuddle, and that's her favorite thing! She was one of the first to learn to sit for treats, and is clearly an intelligent pup with a strong desire to please. Because she's going to be a big girl, she needs an adopter who is committed to training.
HEALTH STATUS
The Floofs were born on February 27, 2024. These babies are going to be BIG dogs. Based on our most recent estimate, we expect Andie to grow to around 140 lbs.
They have been fed high-quality large-breed puppy food since they began weaning (and Mama Tahlili has also been on a high quality diet, to ensure she's able to feed them well). They have been regularly dewormed, are microchipped, and have received their first three puppy shots.
HART does not support pediatric spay/neuter, so these pups have not been sterilized. You will be required in terms of the adoption contract to have your pup sterilized by the time they are 12 months old. HART will refund you $100 upon receiving proof of sterilization.
