AN INQUIRY FROM PETFINDER IS NOT AN APPLICATION! READ THE ENTIRE POST FOR INFORMATION HOW TO APPLY.

Meet Abby! Abby is a 1 year old female corgi (and we think basset hound mix) and she weighs about 20 pounds. Abby arrived in rescue after winding up at animal services just before Christmas in rough shape. They soon discovered Abby had some orthopedic abnormalities and would need a special home. Abby doesn't let her issues bother her though, and she is one of the sweetest, bestest pups there is, and is ready to find a forever home as amazing as she is:) Her foster mom says: Oh goodness, I could never say enough about this girl. She can be sweet, spicy and salty within the same 5 minutes. When I picked her up from the shelter, she was completely shut down. After I got her home, she met her foster siblings, got a full belly and immediately started coming out of her shell. Abby has HOD and gets tired very quickly. (Hypertrophic osteodystrophy (HOD) is an orthopedic developmental disorder that can cause limping, pain, and swelling of a dog’s joints.) A fenced in yard is a MUST for her. She doesn’t do well walking on a leash/collar. Abby will also need a house with carpet or quite a few rugs. Sometimes when she gets tired, her legs fall out from underneath of her - she gets up no big deal. I have smaller and larger dogs and she loves them all. She holds her own with my bigger ones, no issues. There are times she will hangout with us outside, then come inside after about 30 minutes and put herself in her cage for a nap for about an hour or two. She does love her space/alone time. She isn’t a super social girl with people. Once she got comfortable with my finance and I, she comes out and hangs out with us all the time and wants me to pick her up to put her up on the couch with me. It just takes a bit of time for her to warm up. I tell everyone that comes over, you just have to make Abby love you. She eats her dog food super well and is absolutely potty trained in her crate and in the house. Abby rides super well in the car with no issues as well. I call her a work of art, that just needs love and some space. Abby is ready to be home with you!

Abby is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped.

Abby is fostered in the Orlando area and her adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in applying to adopt Abby, please visit www.floridalittledogrescue.com to read the adoption process and complete an application! Please note that emails simply asking "Is this dog available" will not be returned, as applications are worked in the order received and availability largely depends on when you apply:) Please also know we do not adopt out of state! Thank you!
