Phoebe is a young amazing 1-year-old Mastiff Boxer mix available at the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter. She spent a week at a foster home and was great companionship with wonderful manners. Despite her young age, Phoebe is extremely obedient and very smart. While she was in her foster home, she loved the opportunity to sleep and rest her mind, as the shelter environment is extremely stressful on her. Phoebe needs to be the only dog in her home because she does not know the appropriate way to play and is quite tumultuous with her play style which, in the past, led to harm to the other dogs in two instances. We do believe she is fine with bigger dogs, but still want to keep her as an only dog in the home to avoid her getting in any kind of trouble. Phoebe seems to have a bit of separation anxiety and does not like the crate, so she would be best suited in a home where her people work from home or are home often. If you are a big dog lover, Phoebe is your girl. She is absolutely stunning and incredibly sweet and affectionate.

All adoptions are based on a first-come-first-serve basis on the day the dog is available. You must be at least 18 yrs. old and provide a current ID. We learn about the animal's behavior by observing them in the enclosure and how they interact with the shelter staff. Shelter staff make their best guess estimation of whether they are good with other animals or children.

The adoption fee is $85, which covers a 1-year rabies vaccine and spay or neuter. Typically, all animals are altered before leaving the shelter if they are older than 16 weeks.
