Personality

The Bengal is born an entertainer. Known for their bold personality and playfulness, they love to learn new things and can even be trained to perform tricks. Once roamers of the jungle, the modern version of the Bengal cat dates to the 1990s. They were a cross between the Asian Leopard Cat, domestic tabby cats, and other shorthaired breeds like the AbyssinianBurmese, and Egyptian Mau. The objective was to get a cat with a sweet and charming personality that looked like a mini leopard as an alternative to keeping wild cats as pets.

Bengal Cats do well with owners who have a good sense of humor, can play with them frequently, and have older children.

Such highly active and intelligent cats need daily playtime. Provide them with cat trees for climbing, allow access to windows, and feed from dispensing toys and puzzles.

Bengals need a lot of space to play and roam. While they would love to be an outdoor cat, it’s best to keep them indoors unless you live in areas without close neighbors and busy roads. Bengals love a cat-secure yard filled with toys and obstacles to play with.

Bengals are very low-maintenance cats. They require just a simple brushing once a week and are hypoallergenic.

They are social butterflies and do well interacting with other cats and family pets to which they have been properly introduced. They love people and develop close, loyal bonds with their owners. Bengal Cats are highly intelligent and can be trained to do tricks such as using the toilet, opening doors, and turning on and off light switches.

Bengals love people and develop loyal, affectionate bonds with their families. They get along well with other animals if socialized and introduced properly.

The cost of a Bengal cat from a breeder is significantly more than the cost of adopting one from a local shelter or rescue. The adoption fee usually covers additional items such as spaying or neutering, vaccines, and microchipping.
