Whiskers Manx Manx & Siamese Mix FITCHBURG, MA

Whiskers Manx: an energetic bounce arounder who currently needs someone not afraidof needles, who doesn't know I have a broken back and allergic to everything, including humans.

Whiskers Manx Story: I was surrendered by a family that could not afford my care, and we're concerned because the dog started going after me that I had known my whole life.

I had escaped back in March 2023 in a snowstorm and showed up a couple days later and not walking. The family took me to the ER but could not afford to get me fully checked out. A couple months later they noticed I had welts all over me and I was looking myself raw so they decided to surrender me so I could get the care I needed.

Fitchburg Friends of Felines took me in and brought me to the vets where they discovered my welts were a result of a flea allergy. I was walking then but not well, so I went to neurologist and got x-rays and all these fancy things done and they discovered I had a back injury that did not heal well and my back is now arthritic. But, that doesn't slow me down one bit!

The neurologist says I will be fine and let me be a cat. However I find jumping is sometimes a challenge. I had cat stairs to help me get up on the bed and on chairs and I used them all the time, then at the new Foster's, I decided I didn't need to. I am not in any meds for my back.

My primary care Dr. also discovered that my knees are also something to contend with. I have those disjointed knees that manx are known for. I don't let them hold me back, either.

As for those nasty fleas, I had licked myself so much that I caused welts on my back. I am now heal but have alopecia as a result. The fur that did come back grew out white, so I look even more unique now!

But, every season I seemed to start licking again. So, I got this allergy test, and it turns out I am allergic to everything! From bugs to a bunch of pollen to even humans! Food, it appears was spared from the list. Great because I love to eat!

Fitchburg Friends of Felines recognized that this is not the way to live: chewing on myself. So they opted to get me the shots that build my intolerance to.what I am allergic to. For this reason, I will be a foster to whomever wants me until my shots are done. It costs money for the shots, so Fitchburg Friends of Felines will flip the bill until I am done. You just need to give me love, attention, and... The shots.

So, I have been through 3 fosters. The first one I was with when I was first at FFF, and I got along pretty well with the old big dogs and 5 cats there. The second took me once I was in the clear with my back, but I was not a fan of the kitties and dogs behind the door. I even attacked one of the little yippee dogs when he came into my space and minded his own business. Then I went to a foster to adopt home, and there were little dogs that came to visit me, and that was cool. We play in my tunnel and have a great time. She is giving me my shots for my allergies. So I am hoping the final foster will adopt me when I am done my shots.

I enjoy my humans who gives me temptations treats, feathers, brown paper bags to lay on and tear apart, catnip, and a couple windows so I can watch birds and people go by.

I am a happy cat. I loved giving one foster forehead to forehead bumps. Yep, I get right into my Foster's face and head butt her head on! She loved it! At least I think she did. I greet everyone that comes in my current foster's home with a happy meow, or at the window whenever my old foster came home. I am very talkative so I had no problem letting everyone know I'm here.

I do like to chat things up. I talk for everything. Food, treats, loving, everything I am happy to vocalize for. It works.

I know I am super smart because I had all my fosters trained. However I am high maintenance and you have to earn my purrs. I don't just give them out. I make my human appreciate when I purr.

My current foster gives me the run of her one bedroom small apartment. I am very lively running around, but I am not a cuddler. I used to get up into my old Foster's lap, but at the new place I only get up into a neighbor's lap when she visits. And at night I don't cuddle or sleep with my foster. I get up on the bed and stare at her and I think she thinks I'm plotting her death when she sleeps in the middle of the night. I'm not. But it's funny to think that she thinks that.

My ideal home would probably be as an only cat with someone not afraid to give shots, because I need them for another few months. I need them to give me the attention I need, when I need it, for as long as I need it. I am a beautiful cat even without a tail, and I know it. And they should know it, too!
