Say hello to, Vigo! He is a 2 year old (approximate) handsome and sweet orange Persian male cat currently available for adoption! He is one of the many that we are rescuing from the Middle East (there are now over 200) that are part of our international cat rescue mission! This rescue mission has become critical as the conflicts in the Middle East are increasing the number of cats being brought into Egypt by rescues who are fleeing Lebanon and Syria for safety!

Vigo has been through a lot, like most of our rescues from overseas. Vigo's owner moved to another country and since no one they knew would take him, they left him in a pet shop, hoping maybe someone would take him. Well, instead he sat for months in a cage, not eating, getting more and more depressed with each day. Obviously completely confused as to why he went from living with his owners in a comfortable home to suddenly stuck in a small cage located in a busy, loud, pet shop where only kittens find homes. When no one purchased the cat after a few months, the pet shop owner needed space and decided that Vigo would do best if he were a street cat. That's when our rescuers stepped in. They were called to help this poor, sad, and skinny cat, who was completely heartbroken. Thankfully he was rescued off the streets because he would have NEVER made it! He's sweet, polite, quiet, and doesn't expect much from his people. Now he is in foster care, with 4 other cats and children to keep him company. Vigo will likely take our next flight to NJ in January 2025 but we are accepting applications ahead of his arrival.

Vigo has been thoroughly vetted prior to adoption including spay/neuter surgery, fully vaccinated (rabies and distemper), blood tested negative for FIV and FLeV, microchipped and treated for all parasites. **All cats spend 14-21 days post arrival at our cattery in New Jersey prior to moving into their new home to ensure the cats do not develop any post travel health issues.

We read every application that is submitted and it can take us 2-4 days to respond to most applicants. If we believe you may be a potential match for the cat(s) we will respond to you via email. This email will detail all the next steps required in order for you to be officially approved as an adopter. Our email can easily be flagged as spam/junk so please check those folders for our response.

We will ask all potential adopters who pass the first step to submit/complete the following;
-2+ personal references
-1+ veterinary reference
-home interior photos/videos or in person tour
-your building's pet policy from management or your landlord (if you rent)
-1+ alternative designated caretaker(s) for the cat(s)
-scheduled phone interview with a member of our team

*General inquiries about any cat cannot be responded to without an application submitted first. If the cat is on petfinder.com the cat is still available.

Adoption fee is non-negotiable.

What your (tax deductible) adoption fee/donation covers:

Spay/Neuter surgery
Full vaccinations (2 x distemper/FVRCP and feline rabies)
Blood Tests - FIV, FLeV, Heartworm, in some cases additional blood work
Anti-Parasitics - all cats are dewormed, treated for fleas/ticks, ear mites.
Microchipped - All cats have a registered microchip
Travel Passes/Fees- the adoption fee also pays for the cat's travel from Egypt or other country to the USA.

*Please keep in mind that a majority of the cats for adoption from the Middle East were found in terrible condition, some requiring extensive veterinary care and/or surgery. We do not increase the adoption fee despite the additional funds used to rehabilitate these cats.

**You may see our cats posted on petfinder elsewhere, or other adoption sites with our rescue partners in Canada and Europe! We are working together to find great homes for these cats and move them out of the Middle East to make space for more! If the cat is still on petfinder.com he/she is available but all potential adopters will be notified if their status changes.
