Toby is a special girl indeed! Toby was part of a colony of cats that was part of a trap-neuter-return mission through our friends at Wildcatters TNR. However during her post-vetting hold, it was discovered she was friendly! Though a little shy with strangers, she warmed up very quickly and proved to be a very sweet little kitty. It was also noted that Toby had some physical quirks that made releasing her back to the colony a little concerning so Wildcatters reached out to our rescue to see if we could take a closer look and share our thoughts. Upon further investigation of her condition we saw that Toby had delayed reflexes when initiating hind leg movement. Her back feet had a very significant outward turn. When standing to walk, her back right leg will involuntarily stretch, and her back legs will sometimes splay when she is placed on the ground after being held. The cause and nature of this condition is unknown, and while it does not hinder her significantly in terms of overall mobility, we agreed the delays posed a risk to her safety if she were to remain an outdoor cat so we officially welcomed Toby to the rescue! She has really blossomed in her foster home! She has filled out nicely and her mobility issues don't stop her from doing whatever she wants. Toby was born around Sept 2021, is petite, and does very well with the other kitties in her foster home. Even though she tolerates the dog (she keeps her distance for the most part) we feel she would do best in a home with no dogs. She still has the occasional playful side and enjoys toys and chasing the laser light. She is quick to purr up a storm, will hop into the recliner and asks for petting and snuggles and will even jump in bed with her foster parents for a nap. She has come a long way already and we know with the right family she will continue to blossom.
