Meet Sylvia. She's not a kitty who was simply rehomed, or surrendered to the rescue, or taken to a shelter. Sylvia was a very young kitty when she was no longer cared for and forced to live on the streets when she didn't know how to survive on her own at all.
Her tattered and torn little ear tells us that she's seen pain and aggression. Just a kitten herself, she was found emaciated, pregnant, full of fleas and worms. She survived on scraps or whatever was offered to her as her nutritional deficit grew larger, as did her belly as her babies grew. It's nothing short of a miracle that she survived as long as she did, and made it to Rescued Treasures. Her starvation was obvious, anything she was able to eat was taken from her by her growing kittens and internal parasites.
We took care of her physically, medically and emotionally and she eventually had a litter of kittens, who have now found homes of their own. Sylvia took a bit longer, as her body still needed more strength and nourishment.
Today she is healthy, happy and loving the life of a house cat! We are guessing she is about a year old now. She gets along very well with cats who are friendly and playful but she does NOT like dogs. No dogs at all for this girl!!! She is playful and comical, living the life of the kitten she never got to be. She's looking for a forever home with someone who understands what true rescue really is... and will love her endlessly for the rest of her life.
Sylvia knows her name, and will bounce up to you for attention immediately when you call her. She spins and spins, wanting endless touching! She will nudge your hand with her head to let you know you are not done petting her yet. You may never be done petting her. Some cats tire of petting- not this girl! She will continue as long as you'll let her.
She does not want you to pick her up, ever, she wants to come to you on her own terms- which is often! If you'd like her on your lap, stop petting her for a few seconds and she will hop up just to convince you to love her some more.
She has an obsession with little toy mice and will entertain herself for hours with them. She loves a window shelf, where she can look outside and watch the birds & squirrels, while being safe and happy in her home. She LOVES YouTube! Search for Cat TV with birds & squirrels and she will lose her mind! She does see herself as a mighty hunter, as long as it's within the comfort of her home. Never again on the streets!
She has been spayed, combo tested, microchipped, dewormed, everything. She's ready to move on to the best part of her rescue life- her FOREVER home! This baby girl has been through so much in her short life, yet she still has so much deep love and happiness in her. Truly a rescue, truly a cat with spirit!
