Meet Stevie
Hi! I am Stevie, but my fosters call me Steve. I used to hang around in a backyard of a Fitchburg Friends of Felines volunteer on occasion with a couple other feral kitties. One day the volunteer noticed an injury on my face. She called Fitchburg Friends of Felines and off to the vet I went.
I was found to be FIV+ and had to be quarantined for 4 months because of my wound.
The nice volunteer agreed to foster me, and it seems like one of my trips to the vet converted me to a love bug! I got all this love and attention from strangers... These nice vet techs and a doctor, and I decided all strangers are okay in my book! In fact, I went from scared and in the corner to loving all attention! I love to be held and be in people's laps, and I headbutt people and meow at them till they pet me! I am Chatty Cathy now! I even call to other kitties when I see them!
So, about the vet... so, after I was released from this smaller room I was in after quarantine, I got freedom... and unfortunately, with me stretching out more revealed an old injury: a messed up knee that is always going to cause me pain unless we do something about it.
Unfortunately, it looks like I may not need that leg, anyway. This really nice orthopedic surgeon that i had to visit a couple times says my tendons are not going to heal with just cage rest, and there are a couple surgeries that may help, but they require me to be in a cage for up to 4 months or even longer. The other option is just remove the leg, and within days I am bouncing around. So, I may be a tripod, or in recovery for a bit. I am sure I will not miss my leg one bit! Lucky for you, Fitchburg Friends of Felines pays all the vet bills for this stuff, so you just have to worry about giving me a lap to hang out on, and love and attention.
It is fantastic being a friendly cat. I am like a celebrity getting all this attention now! It is like I need to sleep in the arms of a human to be comfortable. Every lap is now my victim! I show them no mercy and smother them with my whole body! It is great!
I do get startled with loud noises, but when my foster and her boyfriend sit, I get calm and come up for loving and snuggles on their lap. I enjoy looking out my window watching critters and birds, too. From inside, of course.
My love of treats start with lickie sticks. I also have a not so great habit of washing my food in my water bowl before consuming it. Strange, and I know I am not a raccoon, but maybe my days out side may have been influenced by them.
I have this one other "thing": I sometimes think my litter box needs tidying up so some of my litter may be best on the outside of the litter box. My Fosters are trying a different style litter box so I'm not so messy. Luckily they never make me clean my room.
Oh, and I am finding do not appreciate my kitty roommates much. In fact, I think I need to be an only cat. I don't need the competition.
My ideal home with be with a cat savvy family without other kitties and kids. I would love someone to continue to give me love and affection... And... A lap. I will reward you with lap snuggles and affection if you win me over with catnip and treats. Definitely catnip!
