Meet Sterling

Sterling is a medium-long haired, absolutely gorgeous boy. He is estimated to be around 2 years old, and has LOTS OF PERSONALITY!

Sterling is currently living in a foster home with two resident cats. While he coexists peacefully with the older, calm cat, the younger, more dominant cat in the home struggles with accepting new feline friends.
Despite this, Sterling often still shows friendly interest, chirping and pawing at the door even during tense moments - he is so sweet, but can be aloof! His one experience with a dog did not go well, so a dog-free home would be ideal, unless you’re fine with a cat you never see!

While Sterling is tolerating his current foster siblings, his true love is young kittens! He has lived with them, and he was VERY content with them around. They really helped him come out of his shell at the beginning of his indoor journey. He played with them and groomed them all the time. He was a great foster dad!

Prior to his role as foster dad, Sterling was spending his days roaming the streets of Pittsburgh -specifically the streets with catnip plants! He was found rolling around in a kind foster mom's cat-friendly garden, before he was brought inside to start his new chapter.

Fortunately, despite his hobby of looking out the windows and watching the world go by, he has no interest in going back to outdoor life and has never tried to escape. His days on the streets are behind him! Since being indoors, Sterling has slowly but surely grown accustomed to the sounds and activity of home
life. He still startles easily with loud noises or fast movements, but he is resilient and bounces back quickly - especially if you call him with kissy noises! He adores attention and affection. His foster mom says he scrubs against his humans with LOTS of power and enthusiasm. At times he can be a bit pushy for love and attention and will occasionally nibble when he’s extra excited or seeking more pets. Because of this, Sterling would do best in a home preferably without young children, where people have a good understanding of reading feline body language, and can give him the play and enrichment he craves.

Sterling is VERY vocal and expressive. He is almost always chirping, meowing, or purring, especially when he’s skipping and trotting around the house. He enjoys almost any and all food and treats - especially Temptations and Churus - but has a special weakness, oddly, for bread! Make sure to keep
your carbs safe, he is a bandit!

He’s also been known to try snagging food off his humans’ plates or even pawing to grab a fork mid-meal! Sterling is excellent with the litter box, although he’s quite the enthusiastic digger, so deep litter pans are a must! He also loves using his cat trees and scratching posts. While he doesn’t seem too interested in cat-on-cat play right now, he’s very playful with toys and loves to run around. His favorite toys are crinkle balls, wand toys, feathers, ball tower toys, and anything loaded with catnip!

After his energetic play
sessions, he enjoys getting pets and curling up on the couch or on his human’s lap to make everyone
biscuits!! He has quite the impressive purr motor.

We would love to see Sterling go into a home with a young kitten friend, or a confident but gentle/easy going cat. He would also likely be just as happy soaking up all the love as a solo cat. Just be ready to play
and share your pizza!

As a medium-long haired cat, Sterling should get brushed regularly. His foster mom is working on that with him, and he’s starting to enjoy it more and more each day.

Sterling is neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FELV and microchipped.
