Meet Selene (bonded to Penelope)
***PLEASE READ FULL PROFILE! Thank you! ***
Selene is a young just-turned-1-year-old grey kitty who has a very interesting story!
Selene was born to Cleopatra, a blue-point Siamese mix, who lived in a poor neighborhood where she had been roaming stray on the streets for many weeks, raising Selene and her 3 identical gray siblings. An elderly good samaritan was feeding them and caring for them, and realized over time that one by one the babies were disappearing and poor Mama Cleo was showing up for dinner with 4, then only 3, then only 2. She did not want something to happen to the remaining two, so she reached out for help. Literally while we were driving up there, a woman in the neighborhood snatched up Selene and locked herself in her home. She did not own the cats, but decided she wanted one. I pleaded with her for over an hour through her front door to please surrender Selene with her family so she could be spayed, vaccinated, and receive all the medical care she would need and be adopted to a home that could care for her. The woman would not open the door or give her up. So unfortunately we had to leave Selene behind and we took in both Cleopatra and her other baby (Caesarion) in last fall.
Fast forward 10 months, and I receive a call from the same good samaritan, who tells me that the neighbor who kept Selene left her as an inside/outside cat for the past 10 months with no veterinary care, and now that she has become pregnant, she refuses to bring her in or care for her anymore and the good samaritan has been feeding her for almost 2 weeks. Selene was hugely pregnant and she was worried she would have her babies somewhere unsafe. So we drove up there to pick her up, spayed her, tested her for FIV/FeLV, vaccinated her, and brought her into rescue just like her family had been 10 months prior. And oddly enough, her brother Caesarion had come back into rescue as a young adult due to no fault of his adopter, so Selene and Caesarion got a lovely reunion and remembered each other instantly!
Selene is a VERY petite, tiny little girl. She weighs around 6-7 lb and is half the size of her huge brother. She is very quiet, laid back, and mellow, and loves to sit in the cubby on the cat tree and watch the goings on of the other cats as well as watching the birds outside. She does play if you offer to play with her, and enjoys feathers and wand toys. She does play with fuzzy mice and jingle balls and track toys on her own a little bit and I think this would increase once she is in a home of her own.
Selene is VERY sweet and affectionate, but not overly outgoing or pushy about it. She tends to be a little more reserved. She waits for you to pet her and then will come out and roll around, stand in your lap and rub all over you. I absolutely think she will become much more outgoing when she is in a home and not in a rescue with multiple cats everywhere. She is such a quiet girl who absolutely craves human interaction and would thrive in a home environment where she can have space to herself, a person to sit with on the couch or in bed, windows to sit in and sun herself, people who want to love on her, and no competition or intimidation from 15+ other cats.
Selene gets along very, very well with other cats, and frequently enjoys cuddling with other female cats and kittens in her favorite cat tree cubby. She will wash their faces and enjoys being in a cuddle pile with them. She has become extremely bonded to Penelope, a Siamese mix like herself who is the same age and also very petite, and as such, I would like to see them adopted together.

Dogs would likely be too much for Selene, and especially too much for Penelope.
I think Selene would do well in a home with older children 10+. Younger children would likely overwhelm her but I may consider this on a case by case basis.
As always, all available cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested for FIV/FeLV. Cats 5 years and over have had full dentals completed.
Our kitties come with lifetime behavioral support, and a no-questions-asked return policy.
All adoptions require an approved application, and a home visit upon approval when your new family member is delivered. For homes further away who plan to pick up their new baby, a Facetime home visit is required!
If you are interested in adopting Selene and Penelope, please download our adoption application from our website: http://www.FreddiesFelines.org and return via e-mail to FreddiesFelines@gmail.com.
I apologize, but due to the overwhelming number of inquiries we get, we cannot answer phone calls about our kitties. Our rescue is small and it’s just me running the show with a few foster homes! Please fill out and e-mail the application if you are interested in any of our furkids!
Bonded Pair Adoption Fee w/ Special Breed: $100 for both.
