Meet Sai
FRIENDLY GUY LOOKING FOR A SAFE, FOREVER HOME!
THE BASICS:
• DSH, Siamese mix
• MALE; EST DOB: June 2020
• ARRIVAL: 7/22/2022
• HISTORY: Sai was rescued from a hoarding situation by Fluvanna County Animal Control. Transferred to CFC by FSPCA
• MEDICAL NOTE: Sai is positive for both FIV+ and FeLV+. He lost his right eye apparently due to a corneal rupture.
Sadly, Sai, along with many other cats, is the victim of neglect and over- crowding that is typical of a hoarding situation. Sai has been a gentle and polite newcomer that is enjoying all his TLC. Sai has settled in at CFC very nicely. Sai is such a friendly boy who loves to be picked up and petted. Sai loves attention from staff and volunteers. He wants so badly to socialize and play with his roommates, but they prefer their quiet time.
What make me, well me?? Dec 2024 Update: Sai is another FeLV+ (feline leukemia) kitty that I look forward to socializing at CFC. Whoever named him thought he looks like a purebred Siamese cat. He does resemble one but he’s really a moggy without a fancy pedigree.
Genetically, Sai is a colorpoint with what’s called the Siamese color restriction. Like a purebred Siamese, Sai’s points (his head, ears, legs and tail) are darker than his body. This genetic mutation occurred centuries ago in Southeast Asia; hence, the reference to Siam.
The Siamese color restriction does another thing: it gives blue eyes to cats that have it. Or, in Sai’s case, his remaining good eye. Sai was a victim of neglect and overcrowding due to a hoarding situation. When he arrived at CFC, he had a corneal rupture and lost his right eye.
This has not affected his personality or mobility. Like most of the FeLV+ cats at CFC, he’s a sweetie that welcomes attention. So far, he’s the only cat that I can count on to often greet me with a head bunt, something he initiated three months ago. Or is it a Vulcan Mind Meld?
Volunteer Update Nov 2024: Sai has come so far. When I first met him a few months ago, he would rarely come down off the top of the condo. Now he will even sit on my lap for a few minutes. He likes to be brushed, too – I think his favorite thing is to chase a big tumbleweed of Buck’s fur or an errant leaf that blows into the catio!
Volunteer Update August 2024: His appearance is stunning—the only blue-eyed seal colorpoint I’ve met at CFC. He’s nonchalant about petting but often follows me around so I think he likes it. I think he's also happy about having a regular volunteer that he can count on and get to know. What a sweet boy.
Volunteer Thought: We love Sai and you will as well. Sai is a calm, polite fellow who has beautifully settled into his new space here at the Sanctuary. Sai enjoys hanging out on the catio area but can also be found spooning with Smokey (very shy kitty) and also Buck in the cat tree right by the front door to his room. You can see him eagerly gazing and looking through the window of that door hoping someone will come on in and say "Hi" to him or better yet, bring him on home!
