Meet Reina

*** Reina is at our PetCo, Mira Mesa adoption center. ***

Brown & black tabby w/white, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 12/22/17, #18117

Cats: solo or possibly mellow cat
Dogs: probably not
Children: cat-savvy tweens+ / adults

Reina traveled from Mexico looking for a new start. Even though a kind lady in the area cared for and fed the homeless cats in the neighborhood, living outside was rough for Reina! Some of the other local felines were aggressive towards her and would chase her away from meals. Looking to help sweet Reina, the woman's friend stepped in and offered Reina a ride to San Diego to join The Rescue House.

This skilled and social kitty is a mighty huntress! Her two hunting goals are pets and play. Reina will follow you around, loves to get pets on her head and chin (avoid the belly and rear, please), and has the cutest chirp of a meow! She does not like it when you get distracted by your phone, however; she wants your full focus and engagement. Reina always wants to greet you and hang out with you (she is like a dog in some ways), and if she feels you're not giving her enough attention then she'll give you a little nip or pawing to say hey back to me! Pet the kitty! And get that wand out! Reina is a very clever girl who needs to keep her mind busily engaged and her energy regularly expended: she excels at puzzle feeder-type toys and needs multiple hard workouts through the day with wands and lasers. One game Reina loves to play to keep her hunting skills polished is to ambush your legs as you walk past a doorway. She's a cat who'll keep you on your toes, that's for sure, but you will never be bored! Reina is action-oriented and inquisitive; her dream home is furnished with tall cat trees for vertical escapades, loose toys for pouncing, a fountain to provide running water, and you ready to engage with her whenever she wants! She is a queen, after all...

If given a slow and proper introduction, Reina may be all right with a mellow-natured cat. While she had lived peaceably with a dog before, she was later bitten by a small hyper one and may now have doubts about the canine species. Younger children would not be a good match; cat-savvy tweens and up who understand there is no malice in Reina, just a lot of drive, may work well to help her expend her energy.

Reina is a gorgeous girl who is ready to bestow her special kind of love on her special people. Are you ready for action?
