Puff is 3Â years old as of January 2024.
Puff was a stray in Waverly, Iowa. He did not get claimed or have a microchip so he is a Waverly Pet Rescue kitty now. He was fed for 4 months by a kind lady and she asked us to take her in when it started to get cold. Puff has now been neutered, is up to date on shots, and tested negative for FeLV / FIV.
Puff is about 2 years old as of December 2022 and that is when we took him in. He has been in a foster home for 5 months after getting vetted. He was very scared and frightened to be in a home and of his foster mom. I wonder if this is the first time he has ever been in a home before. His foster mom started him off in a large cage to help him settle in and feel safe. He hid for several weeks. He ate well, drinks water, and used his litter box. Slowly he has decided he can trust his foster mom and is now friendly to her after 5 months of getting to know each other. This process takes love, kindness, patience, and time.
Puff loves to eat. He still gobbles down his food. Some day maybe he will slow down once we realizes he will never go hungry again. He loves sleeping in a soft cozy bed. He likes to be petted. He is not a big fan of being held but will let me for a short period of time. He does well with other cats. He has not been around dogs. He would be best in a quiet home without young children. He still hisses when there is a loud noise, and he will hide. But with more time, this might get better too.
It may takes months or years for Puff to completely settle in and adjust to a new home. He needs an owner willing to give him that time needed. He is a handsome and sweet boy. Scared cats are the best once they get to know you and bond with you.
3/31/24 Puff & Bubbles came in together back in 2022. We have noticed over the last year that they are very bonded to each other so are now requiring they get adopted together into the same home. Both Puff and Bubbles do great with all other cats. They seek out their foster mom for love all the time and follow her around. They would do well in any home with a cat person willing to give them all the time they need to adjust to a new home.
Adoption fee is $190 for both cats.
WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office
