Meet Nemo & Nigel!

Nigel was found by a Good Samaritan. He witnessed Nigel fall out of a car in front of him on Veterans/Houma at a red light and immediately ran out of the car to knock on the lady's window, to tell her that a kitten fell out of her car and to not move so she wouldn't run him over. We didn't have any room to take him in but we have a volunteer that lives close by and asked if she could foster temporarily and of course she said yes. Not even 2 hours later, in comes Nemo.

Nemo was found by one of our trappers in Kenner. Half of his back right leg is missing. So our trapper didn't want to leave him outside and it seemed like the feeder would take him in. Well after explaining that he couldn't be indoor/outdoor, the feeder didn't want that responsibility, we decided he couldn't go back to them. Our volunteer that had taken Nigel in hours before, has a rule of no more orange foster cats, because she tends to foster fail on orange cats because her original cat she adopted from us, only likes orange cats.

But another thing is we really don't like single kittens. It just doesn't create good manners. So our Programs Director texted said volunteer and said, I have another kitten for you and I am headed your way to drop him off. She left out the details that Nemo was orange. (Insert snickering emoji here.) She handed Nemo to our volunteer when she arrived to her house and she was like NOOOOO and then saw his special leg (special fin) and said NOOOOO. She is a sucker and we knew she wouldn't turn him away.

So since our new orange kitten had a special fin, he of course had to be named Nemo because our volunteer is a Disney fan, and then we decided to name the other kitten Nigel. We like themes obviously.

Nemo tries to use the nub too much that it's causing a scab, so his half of a leg will have to be amputated which is no big deal, we have 3 legged cats all the time.

They are scheduled to be neutered on July 22nd and Nemo's leg will be amputated then as well. He will need 10 days or so to recover from surgery and then they will both be ready for adoption.

The foster mom says this, "Literally the best kittens there have ever been. They love each other so much and still love my husband and I just as much. They get so excited to see our 2 adult cats and are completely unaffected by our other cat being grumpy and hissing. (Obviously he's jealous he's not the baby anymore.) Whoever adopts them will be the luckiest humans. They are perfect. If these were the first kittens I had ever fostered, we would be foster failing but I think America (one of our long term residents) should be my next foster fail. They are 1000% happy playing by themselves and if I get on the floor and play with them, they just get happier and jump all over me. Then they get tired and fall asleep on my lap and if I'm not here, they sleep in my chair. They are so well behaved which is weird to say for kittens, especially kittens in my house!"

Update: 7/22/24, surgery went well! Now just to heal!

Adoption Fee is $150/pair. We like our kittens to have friends so we want a pair adoption if you have no other pets unless we know a specific kitten prefers to be alone. All kittens are Spayed/Neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines, FeLV/FIV tested and microchipped.
