Mouse Domestic Short Hair Wells, ME

Mouse, or Mousie, as her fans call her, was brought to Safe Haven Humane Society after her caring mom went into assisted living. Not surprisingly, the transition was a difficult one and led Mouse to start her time at the shelter as a depressed and cantankerous kitty. . She had altercations with other cats and also with some of the volunteers. There were a few instances of biting and several of scratching with our socializers. Fortunately, in the last few months, she has calmed down and shows how much she enjoys human interaction. Mouse will meet you at the door and eagerly jumps in your lap if you sit in the rocking chair. She has turned into a regular diva in the room and will look at you with her beautiful green eyes while she processes your intentions, which she hopes is that you will pet her and allow her in your lap. One of our volunteers regularly visits her and knits while sitting in the rocking chair. Mouse will eagerly jump in her lap and proceed to make biscuits on a soft pillow provided. She is a talker if she feels she’s not getting enough attention and will rub up against your leg to give you a further hint that she needs some pets. There have been no recent instances of biting, although she will occasionally swipe at your leg when you walk by if you fail to acknowledge her. Mouse enjoys being brushed, but will let you know when she’s had enough. She is a healthy girl, a good eater and is always good in the litter box. Volunteers feel that she will do best as an only kitty in a household where her person or family can read her signs of when she’s ready to socialize and when she’s ready to be left alone. A quiet home with no small children would be ideal. If you are a cat savvy person looking for a low maintenance companion who would like to share your lap on her terms, Mouse is a wonderful choice.
