Meet Mewy Lewis
What we’ve learned about this kiddo is that he was born in August of 2023. Most likely because he was sexually mature, was approaching the point of social maturity, and was still intact, he and the other cat in the home were having some issues getting along with one another. We were told that he’s good with children, but has never met a dog.
Mewy has since been neutered and now that he has settled in and gotten to know us a bit, we have found him to be a sweet, affectionate guy! He loves giving headbutts and receiving scratchies, he loves his treatos, but what he REALLY loves is catnip - and we mean he reallyyyy goes absolutely gaga for the stuff! He’s a pretty docile dude and we haven’t seen any major reactions to loose cats in the room, cats peering into his cage, or reaching their paws in to try and play with him, so we feel there’s a good chance his issue with the cat in his former home was hormonally driven. Since that will no longer be a factor, with appropriate introduction/integration he would probably cohabitate just fine with other pets.
THE BASICS:
Breed/mix: domestic short hair
Age: a year and a few months
Approximate weight/size: either an average sized kitty or a teeeeeny tiny panther. You decide.
Energy level: medium-ish, but we bet our boots that once he settles into a home environment he’ll blossom into a very playful young fella - ESPECIALLY if you give him a good sprinkle of the ‘nip.
Cattitude: when he first came in and was really frightened, he gave us the sass, but that’s fairly normal. Once he recognized we were friends, he’s been really sweet and easy to work with.
Please consider giving a black cat a chance! They’re typically the least likely to be adopted and it would be a shame for this young guy to grow up in a cage. If you’d like to give him a good home, please send us an adoption application!
Mewy’s adoption fee is $150.
This animal is or will be made current on core vaccines and will be microchipped. Cats will be tested for FIV/feline leukemia virus and dogs will be tested for heartworm disease and tick borne illness.
**ADOPTION PROCESS - PLEASE READ**
The very first step of our current adoption process is to fill out our online adoption application. However, you don’t necessarily have to be interested in a specific animal in order to apply! Feel free to submit an app that includes whatever desired criteria (size, breed, age, energy level, coat type, etc.) and we can keep it on file to contact you in the event an animal comes in who fits the bill!
Our pet adoption application can be found here, or you can request one via Petfinder: https://www.wallingfordanimalcontrol.com/pdfs/WAS-Adoption-Application.pdf
You can submit your app using whatever method works best for you, whether that be faxing it to 203-294-2181, mailing it to Wallingford Animal Control at 5 Pent Rd, Wallingford 06492, dropping it off in our mailbox at 5 Pent Rd, or attaching it to an email and sending it to info@wallingfordanimalcontrol.com. All necessary information for any of these methods is also located right at the top of the application. Easy peasy lemon squeazy!
