Meet Melon

Melon is extremely sweet and loves chasing laser lights, sticks with feathers, and playing with catnip toys. He would do well by himself but really loves hanging around with other cats and dogs. He is quiet and independent but once he gets to know you, he is also very loving and affectionate!

CHARACTERISTICS: Calm / Chill / Mellow, Gentle, Quiet, Active, Alert, Smart / Clever, Daring, Independent, Good-natured, Sweet / Personable, Relaxed, Lap Lover, Can be held BUT on only own their terms, Bashful / Shy, Timid, Very Playful

In a human companion, I’m looking for: Someone who is on the quieter side but still enjoys playing. In an animal companion (house-mate), I'm looking for: Someone who will hang out with me.

Lots of people say I love to: Play with other cats in the house and explore my surroundings. I prefer not to have too many noises or large animals around.

I am still a bit shy, but with the right person I will become a great companion.

++++++++++++++++++++

It’s important to set reasonable expectations when bringing any new cat home. We offer the Rule of Threes.
3 DAYS: To decompress
3 WEEKS: To get familiar with your house and its routines
3 MONTHS: To settle in and feel like they’re home

Adding a new animal to your household can be a whirlwind of an experience for many owners. There is a lot of change happening for your new cat, so it’s not uncommon for the cat’s behavior to change accordingly. They may be acting in ways you’ve never seen before, and this can be discouraging.

These “rules” are estimated marker points where you may see behavioral changes from your new cat.
SEE https://www.feralaffairs.org/faq/ to learn how long it may take to acclimate your cat to their new home.

All our adoptable cats and kittens are:
— spayed / neutered

— microchipped, if they get lost (and found), they can easily be scanned and reunited with you!
— tested for FIV & FeLV diseases
— parasite-free (dewormer & flea prevention)
— provided additional veterinarian visits, if needed for any health issues
— conveyed to you with all medical records at time of adoption
