Meet Max
Special needs Max loves attention and is very affectionate. He greets his foster parents every morning and every evening when they get home from work and begs to be picked up and cuddled. He loves his back and chest rubbed at night and enjoys sitting on the couch with his humans.
Max is bonded to his sister Muffin. Both Max and Muffin were seen at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital by the Neurology department and diagnosed with cerebellar encephalopathy which affects their balance and coordination. Max is able to get up and walk but he is slower, has a wider stance and is wobbly. Even with all the obstacles, Max still loves to play. Watching him play can be pretty comical. Max has also been resourceful and figured out how to use the stairs by leaning against the wall as he takes a step. Max is able to eat and drink on his own. Max uses a special litter box that his foster family made for them. To eliminate a mess, his foster tries to get him out as soon as he is done.
We are looking for a family that has more time to spend Max and Muffin and is willing to learn and adapt to M&M’s special needs. A home with a window at ground level or glass patio door would be ideal so they can look outside. Max and Muffin currently live with a cat-friendly dog and they do well with him.
Max is neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, treated for fleas, FIV/FeLV negative, and microchipped.  Max is 1 year old. (~DOB 7/25/22). His adoption fee is $55. If you are interested in Max and Muffin as a bonded pair, please complete our online adoption application at yoga4cats.com/adopt or you can access our online application here:  https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/YCIL/Cat
We will accept applications outside of our normal ~100 mile radius.
