Mau - the Mohawk Cat American Shorthair Mix Brooklyn, NY

Mau was brought to a kill shelter severely injured – his left ear, part of his head and neck were severely burned to the point that the tip of his ear was melted. Mau received first medical attention at the shelter which subsequently sent out a plea to rescue groups to take Mau and continue his treatment. We met Mau when he was still unconscious and looked so miserable that it just broke our heart.

Fast forward couple of weeks – Mau has recovered, is eating up a storm, is playful, sweet and adorable. The fur on his ear and neck us slowly growing back but it is likely that he will have some scar for life. Most importantly, he seems to have forgotten the pain and the injury. He is a happy cat. He loves lounging in the sink, wearing dark black eyeliner (we briefly considered renaming him Freddy Mercury), play, investigate and look out of the window. He is a quintessential sweet cat.

We forgot to mention - Mau's fur is growing back and he looks awesome, in fact he looks like he has a mohawk. We also discovered that Mau plays fetch. How is that for an amazing feline?

All cats and kittens are rescues either from the street, abandoned or pulled off the euthanasia list at the city shelter. All are vaccinated, FIV/FELV tested, de-wormed, spayed/neutered (if old enough) and are delivered to your home. If the kitten is not old enough to be spayed/neutered we will do so at a later date, post-adoption. All adoptions require an application and donation.
