Meet LOCAL CAT: PeeWee, Petite Senior
Poor little PeeWee found herself a resident at the shelter in early January when her companion passed away suddenly, and animal control had to go find her and rescue her from the home. She is a very petite elder cat — she even has a petite half-tail. But her eyes are enormous, making her look like a cartoon character. The vet says there is nothing seriously wrong with her eyes, other than the fact that the right one suffered an injury at some point in her life and, while she can't see well out of that eye, the vet believes she can see just fine out of her left eye.
PeeWee is also a little hard of hearing, so she’s dealing with a couple of elder cat issues that make it important for her to find a quieter home, one without other animals or small children. Though she shared her previous home with a dog, there is no evidence that PeeWee actually enjoyed living with the dog. She has figured out how to peacefully co-exist with another elder cat, a male, but she would probably prefer a home with no other pets, and she would adjust to such a home sooner.
She is a sweet little cat, mostly keeps to herself and makes little fuss, mostly enjoys finding a high perch to nap, and in between naps she enjoys sitting with her humans, sometimes on a lap. She’s just a nice little cat to have around, and would make a great companion for an elder family member, or anyone with a quiet home.
PeeWee is estimated to be 12 years old, is spayed, box-trained, current on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and received de-wormers and flea treatments. Adoption fee is $50. Personal checks are accepted from R.I. residents; all others may pay by credit/debit card or money order, payable to “Town of Scituate.” No cash is accepted.
For more information or an application, email ClayvilleCritters@cox.net, call the shelter at (401) 647-7200, or visit the shelter during regular hours: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri 7 to 11 a.m., Sat 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call before visiting to ensure the shelter is open and that this cat is still available.
