Leo and Oscar are brothers. They were found in a box along the side of the road in Fayette County, Iowa when they were kittens back in 2019. They were adopted together shortly after Waverly Pet Rescue took them in. Now in November 2023, their adopters returned them to us because they go no longer afford to keep them. So Leo and Oscar are living in a foster home and are Waverly Pet Rescue cats again.

Leo and Oscar were born in December 2018 so now are 5 years old as of December 2023. Leo is orange and Oscar is gray and has the Siamese look.
They are bonded to each other and must be adopted together into the same home.

Losing the only home they have ever known was hard on these sweet sweet boys. They were terrified and confused for the first week. They hid and did not eat for the first 2 days. Oscar came out of hiding first. Leo did so a week later. Leo still is skittish at times, Oscar seems more confident.

They are friendly now and enjoy being petted. They are not hiding anymore so that is good. They seek out their foster mom and are affectionate to her. They are quiet and have not meowed even once yet. They have lots of toys they came with but do not play with them yet. Maybe in time. Right now we are working on healing their broken hearts. Cats are sensitive and bond deeply with their people. They are now starting to understand they are starting a new life, they are foster cats, and some day will be adopted into another home.

Oscar and Leo have been around other foster cats with no issues. (they were set up properly and slowly and took a month before actually meeting the other cats.) They have not been around dogs. Older children would be best. Young noisy children would be too much for them.

You must be willing to start them off in one room alone if you adopt them. Letting them lose to the whole house immediately would overwhelm them.

If there is any chance you are someone that would not keep these cats for the rest of their lives, do not apply to adopt them. Their next home must be a forever home. We are also going to not adopt to anyone that rents. You must own your own home with no plans of moving.

Leo had several UTI's a few years back. They both eat Hill's Science Diet Adult Urinary Hairball Control Dry Cat Food. It is not prescription so is easy to buy. Leo has not had any issues since eating this food so should stay on it in a new home.
Oscar and Leo are up to date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and neutered.

6/14/24 UPDDATE: Both are doing well. They both meow and talk now. Especially when it is time to eat. They tend to eat fast, like they are racing each other to see who gets done first. Leo is more outgoing now that he knows he foster mom. Oscar has decided he doesn't like the other foster cats anymore, only likes Leo. Both are sweet boys and would love a forever home together.

Adoption fee is $190. ($95 each)

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
