Jaylen (FIV+) Domestic Short Hair Kankakee, IL

Jaylen is a very, very nice boy, who, unfortunately, has a few "strikes" against him.

1. Jaylen is a tuxedo cat. Black and tuxedo cats tend to wait longer than other colors to be adopted. There's no specific reason, but they are just not as popular overall.

2. Jaylen is five years old. Younger cats, especially kittens, are in the highest demand. Even though older cats are often wonderful, laid back companions, in general, they wait longer to be adopted.

3. Jaylen is FIV+. When cats are forced to live outdoors (inevitable with the high stray population), and especially if they are not neutered, the males fight for territory with deep bite wounds. Somewhere along the line, Jaylen was attacked, which is the only way this virus is transmitted.

FIV+ cats will mostly live normal, healthy lives, and will not be a danger to uninfected cats as long as they get along. There is no danger of passing the virus through food, water, or snuggling, nor can it be passed to humans or any other animals. Jaylen would also be happy as an only pet in a loving home.
