Meet Jackson

Hello, my furiends! I recently had a chance to cat-chat with Scruffy's latest residents - the kitty-pop trio of JDM - Jackson, Damon, and Millie. You may have heard some of their covers - "Stray Cat Strut"...No?...how about "The Love Cats" by The Cure? I am partial to their caterrific rendition of "Black Cat" by Janet Cat-son. Life on the road has been hard for these kitties, and one of Scruffy's best trappers rescued them from a life of fleas and ticks, multiple pregnancies, and catfights. Now, they enjoy their time hanging with their sheltermates, meowing and playing for small human audiences while they wait for that special human to adopt them.

These sweet and silly kitties are 1 year old. They may have a bit of stage fright initially, but give them some time to acclimate to their new surroundings. And once they do - get the kitty party started! Damon - the lead male kitty - is the most outgoing. He has the sleekest all-black coat and rockstar ear tufts. He can be a bit "extra" with his affections and give little love nibbles, so we recommend a home with older, respectful children. Jackson, (all-black nose bridge) backup male meowist, has wild white whiskers and that mysterious rockstar gaze. Jackson and Damon are usually together - probably writing their next hit song or plotting which toy to play with. Beautiful Millie has that luxurious long tuxedo coat and sweet melodic meow. Together, these three love to play and explore. Loud noises and quick movements can sometimes make them skittish but give them time to adjust. Being picked is not their favorite, but they will tolerate it. They get along with other cats, but we are unsure how they will be in a home with dogs. They can be adopted as a pair or individually, but another friendly cat must be in the home. The adoption fee for each kitten is $200.

Thank you for being so interested in adopting from Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue! If you see this post, we still accept applications for this cat(s)/kitten(s). Please refrain from emailing us regarding availability.

All adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, rabies, and distemper vaccinations, proof of FIV/feline leukemia testing, flea treatment, deworming, and an exam by a licensed veterinarian.

Our shelter hours are by appointment only and are not open to the public. Many of our cats and kittens are located in foster homes. An adoption application MUST be submitted and approved before meeting our cats/kittens. We do this for the safety of our fosters and potential adopters.

Our adoption process includes the following:

1. Adoption Application
To be considered for this cat(s) or kitten(s), you MUST complete an adoption application:
- Through our website (preferred) at www.scruffypawsanimalrescue.org/
- Email a copy to scruffypawsanimalrescue@gmail.com
- Drop off a hard copy to either of our partner PetSmart locations (Johnston or North Smithfield)
- Mail a hard copy to Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue at 2944 Post Rd. Warwick, RI 02886

2. Veterinary Reference
Please call your vet beforehand to give permission to release records to our adoption team. Out-of-state adoptions typically require an exceptional veterinary reference and are at the discretion of our adoption team.

3. Proof of Home Ownership OR Landlord Approval
The landlord's contact information must be provided if renting so our adoption team can seek approval.

4. Home Visit
Please make sure you are located in our vicinity. We are based out of Warwick, RI. Due to COVID-19, we are currently doing virtual home visits until further notice.

**Please note: Our volunteers try their hardest to contact every applicant in a timely manner but are often overwhelmed with a high volume of applications. Please allow up to two weeks for a response. Please be considerate and refrain from sending multiple follow-up emails or submitting duplicate applications.
