Meet Halstead (bonded with Reece)

**NOTE: All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens**

Halstead, Maggie, Nathalie, Reece and Crocket are 5 lucky kittens rescued from a barn when they were only 7 weeks old. Their loving nature and playful energy extended to include a single kitten rescued off the streets, and then there were 6!

Halstead is the lone ginger tabby in his clowder, and rather than being a standout, he is comparatively timid and reserved, preferring to sit back and watch the action for a bit before joining in. However, once he decides everything is a-ok, he participates unreservedly in whatever games his siblings came up with, and happily chases catnip toys and wrestles with his friends. Balls and wand toys are his favourites.

Halstead is more of a cat’s cat, and enjoys gentle pets from people, but prefers not to be picked up and is not a lap cat. He is a bit hand-shy, and still learning not to react to a reaching hand with nipping when he is startled. Although this behaviour stems from a defensive posture, it would probably be best if there are no young children in the house who may not understand or can redirect the behaviour.

Halstead is very easygoing and gets along great with other cats. He is especially attached to Reece, his confident and affectionate sister in whom Halstead relies on to feel secure and grounded. He seeks her out whenever they are in different rooms, and her presence calms his anxiety like nothing else can. This handsome ginger boy is content to watch the action, or join in whenever. A family of patient, understanding and experienced cat lovers will encourage this sweet and shy boy to gain further ground in his progress to becoming the best cat possible. As long as he has Reece, and possibly other friendly, playful cats as well, Halstead will be a balm for the people and cats in his space.

Would you like to make Halstead and Reece a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: avacats.org/adopt/adoption-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $275 for each kitten up to 12 months old. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.

All AVA kittens 12 months or younger must be adopted in pairs or go to a home with another young cat (3 years or younger). Kittens learn from each other how to behave, which helps them turn into well-adjusted adult cats. In general, paired cats have happier and healthier lives because they have a constant companion and playmate. Plus, it’s twice the fun for you, and half the work!
