Meet Guido FIV+

Hello, my furiends! I am so excited to announce that Guido is available for adoption. Guido was rescued from the mean streets of Providence. He wandered into the wrong cat colony, and some nice humans noticed that this boy was not from around this neighborhood. Several months later, Guido was rescued and taken to Scruffy, where he received a much-needed dental workup (check out his little fang pic!), lost a few teeth, patched up a few battle wounds, and tested FIV+. He remained unclaimed but definitely not unwanted. This boy is chatty and charming and he quickly made all the humans fall in love with him. He loves the company of humans and cats, and will need another cat in the home. This guy is a ladies man for sure - has quite a few of them wrapped around his furry paw.

Recently, I visited with Guido at Scruffy's House. He has an incredible work ethic. He "helped" the amazing Becky get some important Scruffy business done on the computer; while she typed, he relaxed on the keyboard, inspiring her to keep up the good work! Guido is just about 5 years old, a young stud who loves food and getting attention. He's happy to loaf around and be a cat. We would suggest a home with older kids because he can get a little mouthy when he's hungry (I mean, who doesn't?) or if he's not liking the area you are petting him. He would be fine with other respectful cats. He has not been tested around dogs or other animals.

Thank you for being so interested in adopting from Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue! If you see this post, we still accept applications for this cat(s)/kitten(s). Please refrain from emailing us regarding availability.

All adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, rabies and distemper vaccinations, proof of FIV/feline leukemia testing, flea treatment, deworming, and an exam by a licensed veterinarian.

Our shelter hours are by appointment only and are not open to the public. Many of our cats and kittens are located in foster homes. An adoption application MUST be submitted and approved before meeting our cats/kittens. We do this for the safety of our fosters and potential adopters.

Our adoption process includes the following:

1. Adoption Application
To be considered for this cat(s) or kitten(s), you MUST complete an adoption application:
- Through our website (preferred) at www.scruffypawsanimalrescue.org/
- Email a copy to scruffypawsanimalrescue@gmail.com
- Drop off a hard copy to either of our partner PetSmart locations (Johnston or North Smithfield)
- Mail a hard copy to Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue at 2944 Post Rd. Warwick, RI 02886

2. Veterinary Reference
Please call your vet beforehand to give permission to release records to our adoption team. Out-of-state adoptions typically require an exceptional veterinary reference and are at the discretion of our adoption team.

3. Proof of Home Ownership OR Landlord Approval
If renting, the landlord's contact information must be provided so our adoption team can seek approval.

4. Home Visit
Please make sure you are located in our vicinity. We are based in Warwick, RI. Due to COVID-19, we are conducting virtual home visits until further notice.

**Please note: Our volunteers try their hardest to contact every applicant in a timely manner but are often overwhelmed with a high volume of applications. Please allow up to two weeks for a response. We ask you to please be considerate and refrain from sending multiple follow-up emails or submitting duplicate applications.
