Meet Finn

Looking for a calm cat with no behavioral issues? Want a cat that loves attention and will be easy to handle? Finn is the cat for you!

**NOTE: Finn has bonded well with CeCe and Lina. If you are interested in adopting either or both, along with Finn, we will reduce all adoption fees.

Finn is a former Supreme Grand Champion (TICA registered name will be given at adoption to prevent fraudulent documentation) that was rescued from an award-winning elderly breeder who was unable to care for him properly for quite some time. When we received him, his fur was very matted, he had skin sores and his claws had curved back into his paws from neglect. He was in such pain that his paws could not be handled until he was under anesthesia for his neuter.

Finn is a purebred Turkish Van, with papers, and is 11 years old. He was Supreme Grand Champion at the TICA (The International Cat Association) Cat Show. He spent the majority of his life in a 5 foot cage, away from other cats and people. Despite his isolated life, he is very affectionate with people.

Finn is an extremely rare cat. Not only are pure white Turkish Vans the least common among this rare breed (known as Van Kedi), but he also has blue eyes and is not deaf unlike most white Turkish Vans with blue eyes. Put these physical features together with his charming personality and it is easy to understand why he was a Supreme Grand Champion cat.

This lovable, gentle cat wants a person who can kiss him, hug him and shower him with attention. He wants to be center of attention. He is a Supreme Grand Champion after all and deserves that in his retirement years.

He was not able to be around other animals most of his life so it is best that he be the only animal in the house, or go with one of the females he knows (see CeCe or Lina) as he does exhibit his dominance around other pets that he does not know.

Also, Turkish Vans typically do not tolerate children so he would be best in a home with adults only.

Finn is extremely easy to handle. He loves attention and being groomed, especially brushed. He was neglected for a long time and we are working on getting his coat back to it’s beautiful luster. He also has some tear stains under his eyes because he wasn’t getting them wiped daily. He loves having his eyes wiped and it takes less than a minute to do.

Since Finn has been in our foster care, he has received a complete examination, vaccines and was neutered. He weighs about 14.5 pounds.

Finn needs someone who can provide a lot of attention, nurture him and help get him out of his shell. Since most of his life was spent in a cage he is reluctant to climb or explore heights on his own. He really seems to just want to sit next to someone most of the day and sleep next to someone at night.

On the fun side, Finn loves to stand in a large bowl of water and clean his legs! Turkish Vans love water! Check out more information on Turkish Vans here: https://tica.org/Breed_Introductions/Turkish_Van_Breed_for_Website.pdf

The nice thing about Turkish Vans is their medium-length fur doesn’t have an undercoat so it is less likely to mat than other long-haired cat breeds. Also, they shed less than most long-haired cats.

Purebred Turkish Vans typically sell for $800-$1500. As we are a rescue organization, we are asking $180 just to help cover the cost of his medical care, but we are willing to negotiate that. Papers will be provided upon adoption and the new owner can contact TICA to have registration transferred to them.

Note: Any potential adopters must agree to NOT DECLAW this cat.

Adoption fee for Finn is suggested at $180, but is open to negotiation for the right home.

Call or text us at 682.402.4219 for adoption information or to schedule an appointment to meet him.

There are two other younger males (about 8 years old) that will also be available for adoption at a later date. We are getting them medical care and getting them ready for adoption. If you are interested, please contact us.

Why do we have adoption fees? Every rescue receives a complete physical exam, is spayed/neutered and vaccinated. In addition each rescue receives any other necessary medical care and is fed a premium food diet. Our rescues are never caged and given lots of love and attention, which helps with socialization. We feel this best prepares each rescue for their new home and we've saved you the time and higher expenses that go along with the needed medical care for a new pet.
