Meet GARMIN
DESCRIPTION: DSH - Black
LOCATION: PETS Shelter (114 W Main Street) - Panora, IA
MY STORY:
One bright and early Sunday morning a local resident looked out the door to her deck and found this good looking kid staring right back at her. She thought when she opened the door he would scamper off but instead he just continued to sit and stare at her as if pleading for her help. She quickly put out food and water and he ate and drank and drank and drank, obviously he was very thirsty.
Upon arriving at the shelter, he was given the name Garmin and he immediately stepped out of his carrier purring as if this was nothing new for him. Although it took him a minute to settle in, he loved his full bowls of food and water and has become quite the shelter character. He loves attention from the volunteers and his preferred perch at the shelter is right smack dab in the middle of the front counter and desk! We think it's because he likes to watch everything that goes on and to monitor the other kitties. He does well with the other kitties but seems to prefer humans as opposed to kitties as his companions. Garmin does an extremely exaggerated meerkat hop where he rises up on his back legs to get pets. He can get a little overstimulated at times but with the more time and attention he gets the less overstimulated it makes him - the kid just wants some love and attention. Garmin has a shiny jet black coat and clear golden eyes that pair purrfectly with it.
From His Foster Home:
Garmin is settling in nicely and is getting used to hanging out with the other kitties and us. He's very affectionate and likes to lay on our bed. He's getting so much more tolerant with other kitties and he is way more mellow. He purrs very loud and will stand on his hind legs to encourage us to pet him. He's quite a ham. He can be a little crabby so maybe a home with older kids would be good. He tolerates being picked up and moved but doesn't really like to be held. He will sit partially on our laps. He's come a long way from being all up in everyone's business like he was at the shelter during adoptions lol. He's a really good boy!
