My name is Ember, and my journey has been a whirlwind of uncertainties. I arrived at this place in May, drawn by the scent of extra food set out for Callie and Tommy. The humans here, they noticed my growing belly and assumed I was expecting. They tried to trap me for weeks, and when they finally succeeded, there were no kittens within me. Turns out, my babies were already born, tiny and helpless. It took an entire day to transition from that confining trap to a place indoors. I was wary, sneezing, and burdened by nasty tapeworms. The vet helped with my respiratory issues, and I endured diatomaceous earth for the parasites. My skittish nature lingers, and though I crave affection, the memory of capture makes me wary of being held. I hide from the relentless bullying of Myles, one of their cats, and the only solace I find is in the quiet of their bedroom. My babies taught me about toys, and the joy of play made my heart swell. But if they catch me watching, I retreat into shadows. I've learned to cautiously approach others, but swift movements send me fleeing. Despite it all, I'm a little sweetheart, taking each day as it comes, seeking solace under the bed, and cherishing the brief moments of warmth and treats.
