Meet Connor FIV+

Hello, my furiends! Meet Connor! And we are very excited to share that this kitty is ready to find his furever family! Connor is estimated to be 3 and a half years old - he was found abandoned, and naturally, he was skeptical of humans at first, but he has adjusted quite well. He has been living at Scruffy for a few months and making new friends - human and feline. Connor is a total love - I don't know if it's those tom-cat cheeks, long whiskers, or soft fur, but he had us at Meow. Connor adores getting attention, and you can expect head butts and a lean and weave, weave and lean until this boy gets his head scratches, butt scratches, and occasional belly rubs. Connor can be nervous in new situations, and loud noises may cause him to be cautious. He is what I call a harmless hisser, letting out a little hiss when he feels unsure but follows it up with a head butt or two. He will tolerate being picked up and held - we can't help it, look at those eyes - but being held isn't his favorite. He enjoys a good meal and inhales his food like a vacuum!

Connor would do best in a home with someone who is home a lot. Older children are recommended, and we are unsure how he would do around dogs or other animals. He enjoys the company of other cats, but he is submissive and shy around confident cats.

Connor is FIV+, but that doesn't mean he isn't adoptable! He doesn't require medication or special treatment, it isn't contagious. With this diagnosis, FIV+ cats are not given a death sentence; they can live happy, healthy lives as indoor cats for years! (My FIV+ cat lives with four negative cats, and we are going on five years of a happy, healthy household!) We are happy to address your concerns and answer any questions you may have regarding FIV+ cats.
