***Staff thinks I will be ready by late June. My foster family says, Chuck is snacky and focused. He pays attention to one thing at a time. He is a solid napper after playing hard. Add some spice to your life by adopting a spicy kitten! Chuck will need ample time to adjust to his new home as he is still learning that people aren't all that bad! Placing him in his own sanctuary room such as a small bathroom with food, water, bed, toys, scratching post, and litter box will help him settle in and not become overwhelmed. This room should be quiet with hiding places as well as some perches. He will need lots of positive interactions with him people to learn that they are friends, so lots of treats, snuggles, and pets will help him learn to love much quicker. Don't let the hisses and hiding scare you; working with him to build him trust will soon have him out of his shell and loving people! Once he has acclimated to the room and you, slow introductions to other animals and the rest of the house can begin. He will require some patience and love until he realizes he is safe and ok, but once you win him over he will be your best friend! I am not currently at the shelter because I'm growing big and strong in a foster home! You can sign up to pre-adopt me by placing a $50 choice hold. This is a non-refundable fee that does not go towards my adoption fee, but it does give you the first opportunity to adopt me. Shelter staff will contact you when Im ready to go home with my new family! To place a choice hold, you can either come into the shelter or call us at 719-473-1741; you may wait to speak with a customer service representative or leave a voicemail. Choice holds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis and only one choice hold can be placed on an animal. Once I am old enough to go home, I will have to be adopted at the shelter without a visit. Unfortunately, we arent able to visit while Im in the foster home as its a lot of stress on me to be transported back and forth to the shelter for visits, which makes me more susceptible to getting sick. We want to be healthy for our new life together!
