Meet Carbon

Hi, my name is Carbon. I started showing up in Ms Tana's yard and on her porch to look for food a few times. Had been seen in the neighborhood next to hers several times by several people back in October and November 2022. After Ms Tana saw me the second time, she set a trap on her porch with some yummy mackerel and tuna inside. I could smell the food and tried to get it from the back of the trap, but could not get to it. The trap was covered on the top and sides with a throw blanket. So, I walked all the way around the trap and found some food laying on the porch right in front of the trap door. I tasted it, and it was so good that I ate that little bit very quickly. My stomach was growling. I was so hungry. I wanted more, and I could smell more. Then I saw a little bit right inside the trap, so I walked in enough to eat that little bit too. Then I saw a big pile of food in the back, and I knew I wanted that. Maybe it would be enough so that I would not be hungry anymore. So, I walked all the way to the back to eat, and then a loud noise startled me. I turned around to look and run away, but I couldn't. The door was closed, and I was trapped. Suddenly, I heard Ms Tana's voice. She covered the trap up all the way, picked me up, and carried me into her house. After things got quiet again, I decided to finish eating.

The next morning I got taken to a place that neutered me, vaccinated me, and put Revolution on me to get rid of my fleas. I was very scared, but I had been around some nice humans sometime in my past, and I was hoping Ms Tana was another nice one instead of like so many mean ones I had encountered since being outside. Turns out she was nice, and after feline roommate got adopted and moved out, I have been much happier because that female feline did NOT like me, and she was NOT welcoming or nice to me. I get along with other kitties fine as long as they are neutral or nice and try to get along with me too. I might not trust other kitties at first though because lots of males outside tried to fight with me and then that thankfully temporary female roommate had a very bad cattitude. Since she has been gone, I have been a total lovebug with Ms Tana, demanding some tlc attention every chance I get. I'm so starved for attention and affection that I tend to get "under-foot" quite a bit, so could potentially trip someone by accident if they are not very careful. Ms Tana is super busy with a lot of other kitties though, so I would really love it if I could be someone's special feline buddy who has more time to spend with me. I would be your best furry friend forever if you would just give me a chance. And I would be nice to any other kitties you have as long as they live by the golden rule and are nice to me too.

Some of the cat fights I was in ended up making me positive for FIV, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. I can still live safely with other kitties as long as there are no fights with bites. It is not spread through the air or sharing water, food, or littler boxes. I can also live a normal, healthy, and long life. It's just important that I get a yearly check up, am kept current on my rabies and fvrcpc vaccines, and if I am ever not acting like my normal self, like I might not feel good or something, please take me asap to have a veterinary exam done, just to be on the safe side, because if I do get sick, my immune system is not as good and strong as a kitty who does not have FIV.
