Meet Cade & Lux

We are looking for a special home for these two precious cats – Cade and Lux
They are a bonded pair that have unfortunately been diagnosed with FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus). FeLV is a virus that is transmitted from cat to cat. It can cause immune suppression in cats and an increased risk of infection, autoimmune disease, and various types of cancer. The virus is harder on kittens than adult cats, and in young kittens, FeLV infection is often fatal within their first few years of life.

Cade is a 3-year-old medium-haired male. Lux is a 5-year-old medium-haired female. They are very attached to each other, and we are looking for a home where they can stay together. They love to groom, play and snuggle with each other.

Cade is a sweet boy who loves and humans and loves Lux. He likes to sit on laps, play with toys, be brushed and take comfy naps. Despite his FeLV, he is a happy cat looking for a family to play and cuddle with all day. He is very outgoing, sweet and friendly.

Lux also likes to cuddle and sit on laps. She will meow for attention (and for wet food) and will even climb on her foster's shoulders to be near them. She is an extremely soft and cuddly girl!

Despite their diagnosis and potential for shorter lifespans, these two cats are no less deserving of love. We desperately want to find them a safe home where they can feel loved and cherished for the time they have with us. We are putting a plea out to find such a place. Although we can all be hopeful for miracles, any adopter considering these two must realistically accept that it could be a hospice situation. They sweethearts need a hero that is compassionate and strong – someone that believes even a shortened life has value and cats facing that possibility are as deserving of loving homes as any other cat.

Cade and Lux would need to be isolated from other non-infected cats to prevent the spread of infection. Unfortunately, the virus can be transmitted to other cats through casual contact (sharing food bowls, sharing litter boxes, grooming behavior, etc). Although there is no known cure for FeLV, supportive care can improve their quality of life and health. Good nutrition, reduced stress and prompt treatment of any illnesses are all important.

Cade and Lux are wonderful cats - they don’t know they are different. We believe that every animal that comes to NAWS deserves a second chance, including Cade and Lux. They deserve to be loved and spoiled rotten! If you have any questions or are interested in providing a loving home to them, please email Catadoptions@nawsus.org.
