Meet Boots
Boots
Age: 2.2.24
Sex: Male
Boots was a little shy when he first arrived in foster, but this incredibly sweet tuxedo boy has stolen our hearts and blossomed into a really affectionate buddy who wants to be your shadow. He's always curious and wants to be near you and know what you are doing. He likes to talk to you with cute little chirps. He is still easily startled by loud noises and it takes him some time to get to know new people and trust them, so we recommend a quieter home with older children or adults. Boots loves to play, and getting out the wand toy is the easiest way to bond with him. Sometimes he goes to you and then sits by the wand toy, or comes and puts a paw in your leg if you aren't getting the hint that it's playtime. He is prone to losing his toys under the couch, so you may want to get a few extra. When you earn his trust, you will be rewarded with his soft gentle purr, as he nuzzles against you. With most cats, the best practice is to stretch out a finger for them to sniff at first greeting, but we think he may have some prior trauma because an outstretched finger often causes him to flinch back. We found that keeping our hands down and letting him sniff us worked best, and petting him on his back to start, not his face until he starts to get very comfortable with you. He is pretty good with being picked up, even though he doesn't love it. Boots eats well and gets along superbly with other kitties. He has become very good friends with his foster brothers (Dee Dee and Jimi Hendrix) and would be thrilled to be adopted with one of them. This sweet guy is ready to find the family of his dreams!
