Meet Birdie
Birdie is a hoot, pun intended! She was rescued after being caught in a humane trap for TNR at a feral colony. Birdie absolutely LOVES to play and the way to her heart is with toys and lots of treats!
Our foster relationship started with her angry eating churus and giving looks of pure distain, and it has been so heart-warming to see her completely change and become a loving, silly girl over the course of a few weeks in foster care! She lives up to her name with the tiny little chirps she gives as she follows me around the room, purring and rubbing on me, demanding food and attention. When I pick her up, she absolutely melts into my arms with purrs and wants to be scratched all over. The only signs that remain which show she used to be fearful of humans is she will skip away if you move too fast or go to grab her, but even that gets less by the day. She also makes really strong bonds with other animals she meets, so far she has been paired with two different foster sister cats and each time she greeted them with chirps and immediate play interest. Because of how much she loves and trusts other cats, we think pairing her with a confident cat really accelerated her trust towards people.
She has recently been showing confidence with the large dogs in our home too, and we expect that to improve with time as well. I feel confident she would befriend any friendly dogs with time!
The way to Birdie's heart is through toys and playtime for sure. She will chase a teaser wand bird like her life depends on it, chattering and jumping with glee! She loves little mice, and will carry them around in her mouth. She adores small balls and pom poms, and will kick them around with her friends for hours on end. She really is a sporty gal! I will mention that what I love about this little Bird is that despite all this interest in playing, she has never shown any destructive behavior in our home, including with houseplants which is always a surprise with kittens!
She is a beautiful girl, with pretty green eyes and an auburn marbled coloring that is very striking in person. She is also very petite (only 4lbs!), and we expect her to stay on the smaller side.
Check out our social media for some great videos of Birdie too, she has been quite the hit!
Birdie's estimated birth date is 7/15/2023. She is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, fecal tested negative, FIV/FeLV tested negative, microchipped, and up to date on monthly flea prevention.
