Meet Bear & Petunia

Who rescued who? Bear & Petunia are two peas in a far out pod, going from shy and timid while solo to besties forever together.

Bear was found at a homeless encampment living under a motorhome. His brother was more confident and was trapped three weeks before bear. Very likely, the shy brother in my house was devastated to lose his confident brother and became even more terrified living there alone. For three weeks, he would not even stand up in his crate, was just completely terrified. He was an abandoned pet, even when frightened was happy to receive pets and kisses, but would not let anybody pick him up perhaps because it reminded him of being thrown out. I could tell he was very depressed and fearful. Once he came out into the bathroom, he would rush to hide if the door to the room was opened. I called him agoraphobic.

Petunia was rescued from a very high traffic street in San Pedro. Her sister was wildly feral and she was social. She was on antibiotics for two weeks and during that time her feral sister was spayed, and eventually returned to her outdoor home. Petunia was very distressed about losing her sister. She was brought into Bear's bathroom in a dog crate, and Bear wanted to be near her immediately and so slept on top of her crate. The minute we let her out, she jumped into Bear's little puffy bed. He proceeded to lick her from head to toe, and then tried to pick her up by the neck, which she was not going to have. She loves being adored by this favorite uncle, who is about five months older.

Bear & Petunia are currently receiving TLC from an incredible foster, please contact Susan at (310) 308-0334 to learn more and arrange a meet-and-greet about this adorable duo!
