Meet Bear

This is Bear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eByNqOS04Wg&feature=player_embedded

We keep having to rewrite Bear’s ad . . .

When he first arrived in foster care he was great with other cats.  He really seemed to like and need other cats around.

Then he got a little territorial with one of the other boy cats and p*ssed off the 15 year old calico matriarch of the household, so Bear got his own room and the longest time out ever.

But, since his release on probation in May he has been a model feline citizen

Soooooo…We would suggest that Bear be either an only cat or paired with a spirited take-no-prisoners sort of little girl cat.

NO DOGS!  Bear is insanely defensive where dogs are concerned.  He will attack a dog.  Or a raccoon because he apparently thinks raccoons are some sort of weird dog.  So keep this boy inside and never let some poor unfortunate dog anywhere near him.  There is obviously some bad history there.  (He has a little scar over one eye and we wonder how that got there.)

As far as Bear’s background before he scored a foster home, Bear was originally found living on the streets by someone who feeds feral cats.  He was obviously tame so she took him to the local shelter in hopes that someone would be looking for him.  But no one ever came.

Bear is FIV+ but he’s a big strapping FIV+ boy.  He weighs around 22 pounds and really should be closer to 18 pounds.  Guess all that hand-to-mouth street living slowed his metabolism.  He doesn’t eat that much more than a big boy should but it does seem to stick to his hips.

Bear does enjoy being groomed.  He really likes the Furminator.  And he does need someone who will groom him to help him keep that lovely grey fur in top condition.
