**You can stop in anytime to meet Barbie to see if she is the one for you! She is located in the kitty condo in the lobby at Avenue of the Saints Animal Hospital in Waverly. We are working together with this wonderful vet to help save more lives. If they she is the one for you, please do apply. Once approved to adopt, a WPR volunteer will set up with you to meet so you can adopt and take her home! Avenue of the Saints Animal Hospital, 2221 4th St SW, Waverly, IA 50677. Open: Monday - Friday. 8AM–5PM, Saturday and Sunday Closed.**

Barbie came from an extreme hoarding case of over 80 cats in the home over in Frederika, Iowa. Waverly Pet Rescue was able to help with 4 cats and on August 1st, 2024 we took in Barbie. She is now up to date on vaccines, tested FeLV/FIV negative, and spayed. She is living in a foster home.

Barbie is about 2-years old as of December 2024. We let Barbie be in a foster home for several months before trying to adopt her out. She was sometimes out but lived in a cage most her life over in the hoarder home. She was still trying to figure it all out with her new life in her foster home. Slow is better, and slow is good with a new cat in a new home.

Barbie is shy and scared at first of any new situation. She hid a lot at first. Had her set up in a room alone so she could settle in. Being in a whole house at first would have overwhelmed her. Slow baby steps and she started warming up to her foster mom after the first month of hissing at her every day. Would just let her be and let her chill. Time and patience is very important with a kitty like Barbie. She is so beautiful and deserves a loving indoor home. Barbie also does well with other cats. She has not been around dogs or children yet.

Barbie's adoption fee is $95.00.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office
