Meet Andy - Senior to Senior Cat Program!
UPDATE 6-23-13:  Andy qualifies for our new "Senior to Senior" cat adoption program, which places senior cats with senior citizens (age 60 and over). This program waives the adoption fee on cats that are older than 5 years or have been at the shelter for longer than one year. Included is a "starter kit", which consists of a litter box, cat litter, scooper and a bag of cat food, all generously donated by several volunteers!
Â
UPDATE 08-15-11: One of our wonderful volunteers reports that Andy is starting to come out of his shell, at least when it comes to people. This volunteer first walks dogs, then takes a break in the lobby, and Andy has started to walk up to him and wants to be petted! He even gets on the back of the sofa and sits near our volunteer, but also gets jealous if another cat or dog in the lobby comes near them. This is great news about Andy, because it shows that once he knows you and starts to feel comfortable with you, he wants to be loved and petted.Â
UPDATE 07-10-11: If a kitty ever needed to be rescued, its our sweet little Andy. He is not a happy camper at the shelter and spends his days just sleeping and keeping to himself. We wonder what went on in his former life that makes him so shy and unsure, but we just know that in the right home he is bound to come out of his shell. Its seems he longs for a quiet environment where he can just lay around and not be bothered by other cats. Do you have room in your heart for an older, somewhat bedraggled kitty that would be forever grateful for a warm, loving home?Â
ORIGINAL BIO: Andy arrived at the shelter in January 2011. He is very shy right now but hopefully he will start to feel more at home so we can get to know his true personality. We are estimating that he was born in 2004, but since he is a stray its hard to tell. It will take time, but he is sure to come out of his shell and start to feel more comfortable.
If you would like to meet one of our pets, please visit us during adoption hours: Wednesday from noon until 6:00; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from noon until 4:00.
If you would like more information on a pet, please call us at 231-723-7387 during the adoption hours listed above. We can also provide a limited amount of information by e-mail.
All of our pets are spayed/neutered BEFORE they leave the shelter!
The adoption fee for a spayed or neutered kitten under 6 months old is $50.00. The adoption fee for a spayed or neutered cat/kitten 6 months and older is $40.00.
Please note that we update petfinder once a week. That means some of the pets we have listed may have already been adopted. That also means we usually have other pets available that are not listed on petfinder yet.
