Americana is the big sister of the family. She won’t be the first to try out a new toy or run to you like her crazy sisters. Instead, she hangs back, observing you and the situation first. But make no mistake—this girl is a master trickster. As incognito as she is, you’ll notice that she’s always involved in every wrestling match with her siblings, yanking the mouse away from your desk in the middle of your work, or joining the midnight zoomie kitten train. Anytime there’s shenanigans, she’ll find a way to be part of it. And when you least expect it, you’ll feel a nudge on your back, turn around, and find her happily cuddling up against you for a loving nap, purring away as she uses your hand as her pillow.

Currently in foster care in Garden Grove. Foster-to-adopt is always an available option and recommendation.

All Del Gato kitties are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLv, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption.

Del Gato Rescue is a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue based in Los Angeles, CA. We are a handful of volunteers who work normal jobs by day and rescue cats on nights & weekends. We receive countless daily requests from the community for assistance with cats and kittens found outside in need of rescue.

We focus on rescuing friendly cats from the streets, getting them healthy and vetted in foster care, and finding their purrrfect forever home! We prevent hundreds of cats per year from entering our city shelters and being euthanized.

We also TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and vaccinate unadoptable/feral street cats, which we believe is the only solution to the root cause of the feline population crisis.

When space allows, we also pull death-row cats from local high kill shelters, work with them in foster care, get them up to date on their healthcare, and match them with their new forever family.

If you'd like to volunteer with us, fostering is a great way to help our cause, and it allows us space to save more kitties off the streets.
If you are unable to foster, we are also always looking for help with transportation to and from vet appointments.
