Meet AGNES
MEET AGNES, OR AGGIE AS HER FOSTER USUALLY CALLS HER! SHE IS A SWEET LADY WHO CAME TO THE SHELTER BACK IN DECEMBER AS A STRAY. SHE WAS AGED AT ABOUT 7 YEARS OLD, AND PREVIOUSLY SPAYED, BUT WAS SEVERELY OBESE AT OVER 24 POUNDS AND COULD BARELY WALK. AFTER 6 MONTHS IN FOSTER, SHE IS A NEW WOMAN AND IS NOW ABOUT 14 LBS. SHE HAS SO MUCH MORE ENERGY THESE DAYS, AND CAN BE PLAYFUL LIKE A KITTEN SOMETIMES! NOW AGGIE IS READY TO MOVE ON TO THE NEXT STEP IN HER JOURNEY OF FINDING A NEW ADOPTIVE FAMILY! AGGIE HAS EATEN A MOSTLY WETFOOD DIET SINCE GOING TO FOSTER, AND DOES REALLY WELL WITH WERUVA CANNED FOOD (NOT A FAN OF THE SHREDDED CHICKEN), AND SOME FANCY FEAST/FRISKIES AS WELL. SHE USUALLY EATS 2 -5 OZ CANS, OR 3-4 SMALLER WERUVA POUCHES DAILY, BUT HER NEW FAMILY WILL WANT TO FOLLOW UP WITH THEIR VET TO MAKE SURE THAT HER DIET CONTINUES TO BE APPROPRIATE GOING FORWARD, AND HELP HER MAINTAIN HER FIGURE. AGGIE DOES OK WITH PELLET LITTER, BUT DOES PREFER CRYSTAL LITTER (PRETTY LITTER, TIDY CAT CRYSTALS, FRESH STEP CRYSTALS). SHE DOES BEST WITH A LOW, OPEN TOP LITTERBOX. ONE THINGS HER FOSTER LEARNED IS THAT AGGIE DOES NOT LIKE DOGS! SHE CAN ALSO BE A BIT CAT SELECTIVE, BUT USUALLY IS PRETTY TOLERANT OF OTHER CATS. SHE WOULD LOVE TO JUST SIT ON SOMEONES LAP AND GET PETS ALL DAY! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SWEET AND LOVING GIRL TO ADD TO YOUR FAMILY, PLEASE PLAN TO COME MEET AGGIE SOON! Adoptable cats/kittens are spayed/neutered, started on core vaccines per shelter protocols, microchipped, FIV/FeLV tested, and started on monthly preventatives. Adoptions hours (no appointment needed) are M/T/W/F 10 am - 12 pm and 2 pm -4 pm; TH 10 am -12 pm and 2 pm -6 pm, and SAT 9 am -1 pm. To schedule an appointment outside of those hours, and/or to learn more information regarding a particular animal, please call the Feline Department at 410-848-4810 ext 822. If no one answers, please leave a detailed message with your name and phone number, and the call will be returned by end of business Monday - Friday. Adopters can prepare for their visit by being 21 years of age or older, having permission from their landlord to bring a new pet into their household, having some form of ID that shows their current address, and by bringing a suitable carrier to take their new companion home in. The adoption fee can be paid using cash, debit or credit and is based on age: Cats 1 year and younger are $75; cats 2 years to 7 years are $50; and 8 years and older are $25.
