Meet Oakie

"Around the oak of truth runs the vine of beauty." Oakie is an exceptionally beautiful bird, dressed in warm shades of yellow and taupe with soft brown undertones and snowy white feathers freckling her face. A smart pigeon racing survivor, Oakie camped out on a neighborhood deck and enjoyed a family’s generous hospitality, but the morning chill biting the autumn air reminded Oakie she was still in danger outdoors. And so Oakie was very relieved to be rescued! Oakie’s arrival at GLPR insured a warm place to rest and a hearty breakfast. Feeling strong in spirit and hopes running high, Oakie is ready for the next step to a foster or forever home. Just in time for the holiday cheer, Oakie would feel blessed to ring in the New Year with a new family of her own!
