Jade Parrot Ringneck / Psittacula Salt Lake City, UT

Jade is a DNA male Indian Ringneck, about 26 years old. He enjoys just hanging out on his cage or on his favorite person's shoulder. Jade had only one prior home. He is used to cats, other birds, and dogs don't seem to bother him.

He is on a healthy diet and is a good eater. He is very quiet for a parrot, mostly a little chatter in the morning, and at night as he anticipates his bedtime treat. He is also less messy than the average parrot. He is not at all demanding of your time, but is happy to sit on your shoulder, or on your chest as you watch TV, for 15-30 minutes. The foster parront says he is the easiest and quietest bird he has ever fostered. He says “hello” and “pretty bird” but not very clearly. Jade is cage-protective, he will try to bite when you put your hand in the cage, but that is about his only issue. When he is walking on the outside of his cage he will step up readily. The foster parront has been trying to get him more interested in toys and playing, but he seems most content to stare out at the world. If you are looking for a quiet and undemanding bird who likes a little bit of contact during the day, Jade is just about as good as it gets.

Jade comes with a cage. Vet check normal except for elevated triglycerides. Foster home is modifying diet appropriately. Adoption fee $300 + $30 membership.
